THE LATEST IN SMART LUGGAGE

Sydney Luggage has Smart Luggage covered. So get your clever on and get yourself smart luggage ready !

We’ve seen some great ideas and creations in luggage over the years.  We had luggage with shelves , luggage that you can piggyback another bag on the front of it , suitcases that tilt back so they can be pushed rather than pulled but the latest to hit the market is cabin sized cases that allow you to charge your devices on the go.

The way these case work is generally the same:

  • There is a USB port built into the case the you can gain access to.
  • You provide your own portable battery pack.
  • There is a fixed cable that is attached on the inside of the case that you attach your portable battery pack to. This cable is attached to the USB port .
  • You now connect your charging cable to the USB port and then connect your device to the charging cable.

The Misconception

Recently in the media there were reports that these cases were banned on flights. This is not the case ( excuse the pun ! ). Here’s the correct information from CASA ( Civil Aviation Safety Authority ) the Australian Government authority :-

Batteries under 100Wh rating
The batteries that power your phone, laptop and camera are usually under the 100 watt-hour (Wh) rating.
If you’re carrying a spare battery that’s not in one of these devices, it must be in your carry-on baggage only.
Spare batteries, regardless of their size are not to be carried in checked luggage.

So now you are good to go with your smart luggage . Here are the top bags that feature a USB port.

  1. Victorinox Lexicon Hardside Frequent Flyer
  2. Antler Titus Cabin Rollercase
  3. Paklite Bureau Business Cabin 4 Wheel Trolley Case

Victorinox Lexicon Hardside Frequent Flyer

This case is the bomb !

It features a little tiny pocket to store your Victorinox Pocket Knife , not only does it have  a USB port but it also has a built in pen and wait for it …… a sim pin ejector tool to remove your SIM card from your device. You know that little annoying pin you can never find when you need to eject your sim tray? Yep , they have one built into the case.

Tip: don’t tell your kids that the case comes with this or they will take it and you’ll be back to square 1.
